🌿About “Irihi Waterfall” at Takiyamaji Temple

Takiyamaji Temple stands quietly among the mountains of Omishima.

Within the temple grounds flows Irihi Waterfall, a place surrounded by many stories and traditions passed down through generations.

According to local people, it is said that a sacred white serpent has long been enshrined and honored in this area.

It is also said that above the waterfall, whose form resembles a dragon, a statue of Kannon has watched over the prayers of the people.

Even today, a quiet story continues to be told:

A dragon deity dwells within this waterfall.

No one knows the truth for certain.

Yet when we listen closely to the sound of the falling water, it feels as though the memory of prayers offered here since ancient times still lives and breathes within this sacred place.

（ About the “Ryujō Kannon” Prayer Water from Irihi Waterfall ）

瀧山寺の境内にある「入り日の滝」には、
龍乗観音さまが静かに祀られています。

山から湧き出た清水が、
そのまま滝となって流れ落ちるこの場所は、
古くから祈りと静けさに包まれてきた瀧山寺の大切な「水行の場」です。

瀧山寺は地域の皆さまと共に、この祈りと水の場を大切に守って参りました。

瀧山寺では、お受けいただいた、こちらの入り日の滝の清水を本堂にお供えし、龍乗観音さまの御前にて読経・祈願祈祷を通して御加持したのち、
「龍乗観音・祈りの清水」として祈願札、各種証明札とともにお渡しいたしております。

日々の暮らしの中で、お守りやお清めとして、静かにお受け取りください。

At Irihi Waterfall, located within the grounds of Takiyama Temple,
Ryujō Kannon is quietly enshrined.

Here, pure spring water from the mountain flows directly down as a waterfall.
This place has long been cherished by Takiyama Temple as a sacred water site,
wrapped in prayer and stillness.

Takiyama Temple has carefully preserved this place of prayer and water.

At Takiyama Temple, the water received from Irihi Waterfall is offered in the main hall.
Before Ryujō Kannon, we offer sutra chanting and prayer blessings,
and the water is then blessed through Buddhist prayer.

After the prayer blessing, it is given as “Prayer Water,”
together with a Takiyama Temple prayer talisman and handmade purification salt.

Please receive it quietly as a charm and for purification in your daily life.

• 当日ご祈願は、寺院行事・体験予約・清掃整備等により、対応できない場合がございます。

• お支払いは、当日現地にて現金でお願いいたします。できるだけお釣りのないようご準備頂けますと幸いです。

• 滝壺周辺は、苔や水しぶきにより足元が大変すべりやすくなっております。

安全確保のため、参拝者さまご自身での採水はご遠慮ください。

• 滝周辺の安全確保のため、雨天・増水時・足元が不安定な場合は、瀧山寺にて事前にお預かりした清水を授与いたします。

• 天候・水量・足元の状況が整っている場合のみ、瀧山寺の案内のもと、安全な場所にて清水をお受けいただける場合がございます。

※ 清水は飲用ではなく、お守り・お清め用としてお受け取りください。

お車・バイク・自転車でお越しの際は、瀧山寺手前の無料駐車場にお停めください。 瀧山寺境内へは、徒歩にてお入りいただきますようお願いいたします。 静かな祈りの場を保つため、ご協力をお願いいたします。

• Same-day prayer blessings may not be available depending on temple events, experience reservations, cleaning, maintenance, or other circumstances.

• Payment is accepted in cash on site on the day of your visit. We would appreciate it if you could prepare the exact amount as much as possible.

• The area around the waterfall basin can be very slippery due to moss and water spray.

For your safety, please do not collect the water by yourself.

• In order to ensure safety around the waterfall, in cases of rain, increased water flow, or unstable footing, Takiyama Temple will provide water that has been received in advance.

• Only when the weather, water flow, and footing conditions are safe, you may be guided by Takiyama Temple to receive the water at a safe location.

If you are visiting by car, motorbike,
or bicycle, please park in the free parking
area just before the temple.
From there, we invite you to enter
